Unidress - Leading the Israeli work apparel and professional clothing market into new frontiers.
How it all began...
Giora Samuel (1939 – 2007) is the great visioner and founder of Unidress LTD.
Giora started his professional path in the late 1960's by sewing and selling robes and towels Giora's mother made – for local hairdressing salons.
He worked with great vigor and ambition, and recognized a new developing market in Israel, which will later be called “Professional clothing”.
Following the six day war (1967), Israel – and especially Tel-Aviv tourism was on the rise, and a great deal of hotels were built along the Tel-Aviv coast line. Those new and luxurious hotels wanted to dress their employees with representative clothing, thus turning to Giora for a solution, which was in fact the first representative professional clothing in Israel.
Giora used to tell that at the beginning he was the work manager, driver, packer and distributor who delivered the clothing to his customers.
A few years later – in 1973, Unidress LTD. was founded with the aim of answering those exact clothing needs. Unidress LTD. was first located in a small basement in Haifa – where the clothes were cut, sewn, ironed, packed and delivered from.
Unidress was the first company in Israel that understood the need for well designed and fitted workers clothes, which suited each and every worker and his tasks.
In 1978 – the first factory was established, where 100 professional seamstress were employed.
During the 80's Unidress developed a unique model for professional clothes leasing, which was based on two components: the clothes supply, and their daily care.
In year 2000 – as a result of lowered import taxes for textiles in Israel – Unidress stopped nearly all sewing in Israel, and started importing clothes from the far-east, where sewing costs were reduced , and the final product was of higher standard.
During the following years – Unidress collection has become what it is today – a unique and fashionable collection, that relates to the different professions we serve. Manufacturing and logistical procedures were improved, thus creating a quality collection of clothes at competitive prices.
In year 2006 – Unidress expanded its range of solutions: as a market-leader the company recognized a large section of the industry, which had not yet been treated professionally in Israel – the section of small and medium businesses who see the professional dress code as a vital component in creating and reflecting the right business image.
Unidress has designed and developed the first Israeli chain of professional clothing stores. The chain of stores now includes 8 stores which are distributed throughout the country, and positioned in the heart of the most active industrial zones.
The company headquarters and main activity center is now located in the Haifa bay, and the second operating branch is located in Yavne. The company employs 450 workers.
Unidress now services about 400 points of delivery per day, with some 20,000 cared items per day.
